You can access our books on your Kindle through the Libby app.
Here's a guide on how to find ebooks and download them - https://libraryhelp.du.edu/faq/112125.
You can use Libby to access most of our ebooks.
Getting started with Libby
With Libby, you can borrow free ebooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines from your library. All you need is a library card (your DU information)
Watch the getting started video
Please keep in mind that when accessing content from the Anderson Academic Commons Library on your Libby account this acts like any other DU database (Ebsco, ProQuest, etc.) meaning you will lose access once you are no longer an active DU student, staff, or faculty. However, Libby links to most libraries and you can have multiple libraries linked at once, so when you do lose access we suggest linking with your local public library.
Step 1
Download or open Libby on your device:
- iOS devices: Apple App Store
- Android devices: Google Play
- Amazon Fire tablets: Amazon Appstore
- Windows, Mac, and Chromebooks: libbyapp.com
Note: libbyapp.com works best in up-to-date versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.
Step 2
In Libby, follow the prompts to find your library and sign in with a library card (for DU this will be your DU email and password)
Step 3
Browse your library's catalog and borrow a title.
Your selection will vary based on your library, since each library chooses what titles and formats to offer in Libby.
Step 4
Borrowed titles appear on your Shelf and download to the app automatically when you're connected to Wi-Fi, so you can read them when you're offline.
On your Shelf, tap loans at the top of the screen. From there, you can:
- Tap Read With... to choose where you'd like to read the book (Kindle or Libby), then finish sending to Kindle (U.S. libraries only) or start reading in Libby.
- Tap Open In Libby, Open Magazine, or Open Audiobook to start reading or listening in the app.
- Tap Manage Loan to see options like Renew and Return.
Reading with Kindle
You can read most books with Kindle (available in the U.S. only). To send a book to Kindle and read it there:
- Tap Shelf
.
- Tap loans at the top of the screen.
- Tap Read With....
- Tap Kindle.
- You'll be taken to Amazon's website. If prompted, sign into your Amazon account.
- Verify the "Deliver to:" device and tap Get Library Book to finish getting the book.
