Safari O'Reilly is a virtual library that DU subscribes to that is focused on information technology, programming, design, and business. Safari O'Reilly can be a bit tricky to log into as it does not redirect you through the DU library’s proxy like most of the library's online resources. Rather, you go through Safari O'Reilly’s own authentication process using your du.edu email address. This guide will walk you through this process and direct you to who to contact if you have issues accessing this database.
Like accessing most online resources through Compass you will need to click on the database link in the access online box in the Compass item record. You can also access the database through our A-Z Database list.
Once you have done that you will be taken to a page that will prompt you to select your institution to log in.
Click on the "Institution not listed?" link below the "Select your institution" drop-down menu. The University of Denver is not listed in this drop down menu.
This will take you to a page where you need to enter your du.edu email address and then hit the “Let’s Go” button. You should then be taken to the landing page for your item. If you already have an account set up, click the “Already a User? Click here.” link to log in. Account creation for O’Reilly is optional, but can be used for offline reading on a mobile device.
For visitors to the DU Library to get access to items in Safari O'Reilly you will need to contact the Research Center Desk. There is no off-site access available for alumni or visitors.
If you have questions you can contact the Research Center.
